• The NCAA has tentatively approved a four day open evaluation period for April 2012. The NHSBCA and the KABC are evaluating possible regional as well as state showcase events. Member coaches and their athletes would be eligible to participate.
• The NHSBCA is evaluating a possible junior all-star national tournament for its member states to be held in July 2012.
• The forms for the new KABC/NHSBCA 2012-2013 school membership will be sent out in April 2012. A five month window will be available for your school to take advantage of this opportunity. The $100.00 school membership allows for 16 individual memberships (8 boy/8 girl).
• The Marriott Griffin Gate Resort and the KABC have negotiated a Sweet 16 four day room package for $99.00 per night. A first come- first serve for member coaches will open on January 1, 2012. Watch the website for details.
• The KHSBHF will have a pre Boys' Sweet 16 news conference on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at 6:00 P.M. in the Griffin Gate Marriott to announce the first 16 inductees of its centennial class.
• The KABC sponsored Charity Stripe, a cancer fund raiser for St. Jude's Children's Hospital, will begin in the near future. The program is in memory of our Kentucky children who have succumbed to this deadly disease. Please take some time to help the nation's best children's cancer research and treatment hospital win this battle to save our children.
• Nominations for the KHSBHF, Century Club, and Court of Honor are available on our website.
• The KABC Coaches' Assist Fund is available to member coaches that find themselves in catastrophic conditions. • Frank Surur Dawahare, one of the original founders of the East-West All-Star Games in 1949, passed away this past summer. Frank and the Dawahare family have been great supporters of Kentucky high school basketball and he will be missed. Future East-West games will be played in his memory and in honor of the Dawahare family.
• Remember only KABC member coaches can vote on or receive association awards. Your athletes' eligibility for awards also depends on your membership. KABC membership is a dual membership automatically making you a member of NHSBCA. Check our website to evaluate your 20111-2012 membership status.
